INTRODUCTION
| The current term of office of the directly elected members of the Medical Council is due to expire on 31st May 2023. The Council consists of 25 members, 6 of whom will be elected by the medical profession, i.e. by registered medical practitioners, and subsequently appointed by the Minister for Health in accordance with the provisions of section 17(1)(f) of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007.
Nominations have now closed for doctors wishing to contest the Medical Council elections for the upcoming term commencing June 2023. All doctors who were registered as at the 15th February 2023 are eligible to vote when voting opens on March 1st, closing at midday on March 21st. All doctors are encouraged to make sure they have their say in the formation of the next Medical Council by voting. |
