According to Arket’s experts, there are two principles when business houses make these offers.
The first is “return on investment” (ROI), which is the main principle of any business. This is the benefit of what the unit spends.
The second is not a business principle as such, but in business circles it is called “The Return of the Ego.”
This is a silent promotion where some of the larger companies are willing to pay any amount if they have their eye on a particular property. Even if it takes five to seven years to reach profitability.
Women’s Ipl Franchise Auction: Haldiram’s, Adani, Kotak In Race; Bidding Today
An existing IPL franchise with a ‘permanent income component’ can afford to ‘bleed’ some ore in the first few years that are operational.
A former IPL franchisee official who had worked on the bids explained the rationale behind the procurement.
“Let’s say the franchise accepts a winning bid of Rs 500 crore over a five-year period. Now it’s Rs 100 crore, collected immediately for each of the next five years,” the source explained.
“BCCI distributes its revenue through broadcast media, which is one of the main sources of revenue. Another is part of BCCI’s central sponsorship fund. Third is franchisee’s sponsorship revenue. Fourth is door sales, second is revenue from tickets,” he elaborated.
Women’s Ipl Teams Auction: Bcci Set For Another Rs 4000 Crore Windfall
“BCCI will share 80 per cent of publishing rights with teas for Woen’s IPL (50:50 for en) to help develop a sustainable model.
“So what about theater? JIO has invested Rs 950 crore (approx) in publishing rights over five years, which is roughly Rs 190 crore a year. So 80 percent of Rs 190 crore is Rs 152 crore
“We are asking for a round sum of R150 million. This is what each franchise will receive over a five-year period, which is approximately R30 million a year,” he explained.
“Now BCCI also shares a part of its core sponsor fund (main sponsor, co-sponsors, various prize sponsors) with the franchise as well. Add to that the franchisee’s own revenue fund. So it can be between Rs 15 and 18 crore per year. Door sales will not give you much revenue in the first year,” he said.

“The salary cap for the team is 12 million. Add another 6-8 million to the salary of the support staff. Let’s go to 20 million. Add the hotel expenses, dues to the national associations for the stadium and other operating expenses. It could be Rs 6-8 million. In the first year, one city would reduce expenses.
“Therefore, the annual cumulative costs could be 128-130 million. The income would be around 50 million. So there is a possibility that in the first years there will be a loss of 50 million or more,” he explained. . .
“Legacy (IPL) franchises are better positioned to recover these losses as they are already making profits after 15 years of IPL. They will put together their path and truth and maybe take the profit zone quickly,” added the official.
