107* v England at Brabourne, Mumbai | Harmanpreet Kaur’s maiden ODI century came against England during the 2013 ICC Women’s World Cup hosted by India. Batting first at Brabourne, then England captain Charlotte Edwards smashed a hundred to take her team to a respectable total of 272/8 in 50 overs. India’s chase got off to a poor start with the team at 29/3 in 7.3 overs. But batting at No.4, Harmanpreet scored an unbeaten 107 to give India hope. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday (Jan 6) named the 15-member Indian women’s cricket team squad for the 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup. Veteran Indian cricketer Mithali Raj was named as the captain of the team in the right. batsman Harmanpreet Kaur will be vice-captain. Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey are the two players who have been dropped for the main event to be held in New Zealand from March 4 to April 3.

NEW DELHI: Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian team in the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in February, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Wednesday. The All India Women’s Selection Committee has selected a strong 15-member squad that will have Smriti Mandhana as Harmanpreet’s replacement in the ICC tournament.
Along with the T20 World Cup squad, the board has also announced the squad for the tri-series in South Africa to be held before the cricket extravaganza.
Veteran pacer Shikha Pandey has also been named in the squad for the tournament. Shikha last played for India in October 2021 before being controversially dropped from the team. The 33-year-old, whose strength is swinging the ball, has featured in three Tests, 55 ODIs and 56 T20s.
Jemimah Rodrigues managed to keep her place in the team despite poor performances in India’s 1-4 loss to powerhouse Australia.

Left fielder Anjali Sarvani is also part of the squad after her debut series against Australia. Other bowling options include Renuka Thakur and Pooja Vastrakar, whose inclusion in the squad depends on fitness.
Spinners in the team include all-rounders Deepti Sharma and Devika Vaidya as well as Radha Yadav and Rajeshwari Gayakwad.
India are placed in Group 2 alongside Pakistan, England, West Indies, Pakistan and Ireland. The two first-placed teams from both groups will play in the semi-finals. The final will be held on February 26, 2023 in Cape Town.
India begin their tri-series campaign against hosts South Africa on January 19 before facing the West Indies on January 23. All teams play twice before the final on February 2.
