Now, apart from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, giving the PCB a new hybrid model, the BCCI is all set to soften the tone. At a special general meeting in Ahmedabad, the BCCI will formally accept the PCB’s proposal.
Earlier, PCB chief Najam Sethi had warned Asian Cricket Council chief Jay Shah, who is also BCCI secretary, that Babr Azam & Co will not travel to India for the World Cup unless Pakistan is accepted as part-host.
“The thing is, India refused to come. We had to withdraw from the Asian Cup. What do you want us to do? I would then float the same formula to the ICC. I don’t think the ICC is strongly opposed to the hybrid model. They are waiting to see how he will play in the Asian Cup. I can’t say more than that, but I think that is the factual position,” said Najam Sethi.
